I would like to give a big “Thank You” to Kelly, of Your Best & My Pearls, for nominating me as a Liebster Blog Award recipient! Kelly posed 11 questions for me to answer, and you can find my replies in a separate post here.
As per usual, I decided to do my research and find out the origins of this award. I have previously researched the origins of the Kreativ Blogger Award and Sunshine Award. In both cases, I found that the award badge had been updated over time and that the rules of giving/receiving the award had somehow slowly been warped! Such is also the case with the Liebster Blog Award.
The Liebster Blog Award originated in Germany. The word “liebster” actually means “dearest” in German. The original award looked like this:
This award has three simple rules for those that accept it:
Naturally, the blog award badge has been updated over time. It now looks like this:
However, the rules of accepting this award have been completely warped! The rules also very from blog to blog. Here are a few of the new “rules” that I encountered in my search:
I’m not sure how the guidelines became so warped that it went from nominating 3 - 5 bloggers to nominating 11 bloggers. I’m also baffled by the reader count decreasing so drastically from the original 3,000 to 200 in some situations.
Either way, I will be following the original Liebster Blog Award guidelines! I don’t quite meet the “new blogger” reading count requirements, but we’ll just pretend I received this award about two years ago. With that being said, I would like to nominate the following bloggers for this award:
Kelly, from Your Best And My Pearls, recently nominated me for the Liebster Blog Award. You can find all the details on that over here. She also posed 11 fun questions for me to answer. So let’s get to it!
Happy Monday! Can you believe that it’s already March?! These past two months have flown by. It is the first Monday of the month, so that means it’s time for the “Ten Favorite Things” link-up (hosted by Endlessly Beloved).
This month, the theme is “The Place I Call Home.” Open to interpretation, this could be one’s hometown, home state, college town, country, or actual home/apartment/dorm.
I’m a Florida girl, as many of you ought to know by now. And my hometown is Tampa, FL.

Listen up, beauty lovers! I have found your new favorite website.
If you’re like me, then you love finding amazing new beauty products from all different brands. And no one makes that easier than Gloss48!
Gloss48 is a new beauty shopping destination, featuring must-have niche brands. The site provides beauty junkies with a daily dose of amazing products that are not available at Sephora or the department stores. When new brands are first featured on the site, they are offered at a special introductory price for one week. This way, Gloss48 members can try out new beauty products without breaking the bank! After this first week, the products are moved into the Gloss48 Shop. Thanks to Gloss48, you can play with new products on the cheap, and then go back for more once you fall in love!
Gloss48 even gives you an arsenal of tips and tricks to help make you a beauty guru in no time! Check out one of their latest infographics:
This week, Gloss48 is featuring the Eddie Funkhouser Cosmetics line. Eddie Funkhouser is a celeb makeup artist with rockstar style. His makeup is made of high quality ingredients and vibrant, lasting pigments that bring out a woman’s natural beauty and style. His goal in creating the line was to offer celeb-worthy beauty products at affordable prices. The Eddie Funkhouser sale ends on Monday, March 3 at 11am EST.
Gloss48 was kind enough to send me some of Eddie’s products to review. After participating in the latest #GlossChat (check out my recap here), I was so excited to test out these products! It was pretty evident in my multi-personality makeup Instagram that I posted that night:
I received two of the Hyperreal Eye Colors - Stage Beauty (on left) and Spanish Harlem (on right). These eye colors are, hands down, some of the best shadows that I have ever used. They are lightweight (you honestly would think you had nothing on if you didn’t know better), and very well pigmented. Eddie Funkhouser paired up some eye color duos exclusively for Gloss48. The duos are based upon your own individual eye color (hence the earlier infographic). The Stage Beauty Eye Color is part of the duo that Eddie made for blue eyes:
And last, but not least, Eddie paired his All Nighter Eye Color and Emerald City Pure Pigment for all the brown-eyed gals out there:
I was also able to test out the Hyperreal Hydrating Lipgloss in Unapologetic (my top lip in those Instagram pictures) and the Chromographic Lip Color in Modern Marvel (bottom lip). Both of these products were ridiculously nourishing. I tend to have drier lips, and these lip products felt like heaven. Again, the pigment was just perfect. The lipgloss was not sticky at all. The lip color was honestly as hydrating as a gloss. I had the hardest time believing that it had come from a stick, and not out of a tube! Similar to his eye duos, Eddie also made some amazing lip color & lipgloss duos just for Gloss48. He paired up the Modern Marvel Lip Color with his Lipgloss in Publicity Stunt:
He also paired up his Lip Color in Kiki with Stolen Kiss Lip Gloss:
Another duo includes Strip Search Lip Color & Belle De Jour Lipgloss. I’m really interested in testing these gorgeous colors next:
